WHY THERAPISTS STUDY BODY PSYCHOTHERAPY The connection between body, emotions, mind and soul is very powerful! It offers incredibly powerful levels of access to the client's emotions to the skilled practitioner. Unfortunately, many therapists do not have somatic training or feel uncomfortable in dealing with the energies of the body. Others hate anatomy, are simply worried to do something wrong or are afraid to elicit overly strong emotional reactions in their clients. Whatever therapists limitations may be, this course is designed to help them to become grounded and comfortable with the body as an integral aspect of therapeutic interventions.

• Bodyworkers, massage therapists, yoga teachers, psychotherapists and any other health counselors • Therapists who use any form of touch and movement in their work and look for skill building, supervision and consultation • Healing professionals who have difficulties holding boundaries with clients • Clinicians who want to learn how to “read” the body and integrate energetic work and somatic interventions in their current practice THE PROGRAM The Somatic Seminar offers an introduction to the power of body-centered modalities. It will give healing practitioners easy-to-apply tools and insights in the mechanisms of the “mind-body connection” and is a general introduction to the potential of body-centered evolutionary process work. The Somatics Seminar will be based on the theories and practical applications of Core Energetics and its founder, John Pierrakos, MD. It will include information from bioenergetics and other forms of Neo-Reichian work, as well as psychosomatics and the neurophysiology of emotions.
We will study the powerful and complexprocesses between therapist and client that arise when working with the body. This course is highly participatory and experiential because helping professionals using touch must have their own experience in order to safely guide their client in their personal growth process. You will FEEL what you are learning. It will lead you to the places where mind and body meet. No prior somatic training or bodywork experience is necessary!
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR Kuno Bachbauer, M.D. (Austrian degree) L.M.F.T. (Washington, DC), is certified as a practitioner of the Core Energetics Evolutionary Process. He is a senior Faculty member of the Institute of Core Energetics East, (New York) and teaches at the Core Energetics Institutes in Brazil (Brasilia & Sao Paulo), Mexico and Australia.
He is also a graduate of The Gestalt Psychotherapy Training Center of Washington, D.C. and the Family Constellations Training (Hellinger USA). Disclaimer: Kuno Bachbauer holds an M.D. from Austria (Dr. med.), but he is not licensed in the United States and does not practice medicine.

Core Energetics as an example of a mind-body healing modality: Core Energetics is an evolutionary process of personal transformation. It combines methods of body-psychotherapy, energy work and spiritual grounding. It is based on the work of psychiatrist John Pierrakos, MD. His work focused on bringing mind, body and soul together. The basic aim is to help a person live from their Core, a state of pleasure, truth and harmony that is reached when a person is in full energetic flow. This approach includes deep bodywork, breathwork, expressive techniques for emotional release and is grounded in the spiritual philosophy of the Pathwork. Core Energetics can stand alone as a modality of emotional healing and personal transformation, and it can also be applied as an auxiliary modality to other forms of psychotherapy, such as addiction hehabilitation.
